Somewhat less sinuous and exotic than the famed seeress Madame La Zonga, but nonetheless intent on seancers who gaze into MSU's 1962 gridiron crystal ball. The three fortune tellers are Duffy Daugherty, State's veteran football coach (center), and two good reasons why the pigskin picture looks bright for Sparta; All-America candidates George Saimes (left), and Dave Behrman. Actually, the glass ball is a handsome gift to Saimes from Dell Publishing Company which named the MSU fullback and team captain to its Crystal Ball All-America team. Behrman, already an All-America selection for his line play in 1961, looms as one of the nation's top centers again this year.

MSU would lose its opener at Stanford, but win its next four, including a 28-0 win over Michigan. However, the Spartans lost three of their final four to finish the year 5-4.

Earlier this week, Grantland had a good look at the 1966 season and the Game of the Century.
