Spartan Pupdate is saying goodbye

The time is here for me to move on from TOC, as a new opportunity has come my way -- one I owe to y'all.

Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE

Dear The Only Colors community,

The time has come for me to move on to greener pastures. Your faithful readership and interaction on social media brought me an opportunity to join the team at Scout.com, also known as Fox Sports Next.

I will be the managing editor at Spartan Digest, the Michigan State website on Scout, where I will be covering Michigan State football, basketball and recruiting, effective July 15.

Since leaving my poorly named, year-old blog (The Little Brother Blog) and joining TOC in late November, I have had a blast. There has been something really neat about writing for such an outstanding blog, and one that I spent so much time reading through my collegiate years at Michigan State.

I am thankful for the opportunity Chris allowed me with TOC, especially trusting me to revamp the recruiting coverage in late February. It has been a privilege to work with the best group of MSU bloggers the vast interwebs have to offer.

Then, I have you, the readers, to thank. It is a tribute to your passion and care for the Spartans -- and recruiting -- that my work gained attention. During my time at MSU, one of my journalism professors told me the best thing an aspiring journalist can attain is a faithful audience. It is safe to say that you all fit those shoes perfectly.

Now, with all the sappy stuff out of the way, I am ecstatic and humbled to have the chance to turn my hobby and passion for writing and covering Michigan State sports into a job with Scout/Fox Sports.

In an entirely shameless plug, I would encourage looking into a subscription with Scout. The team that covers recruiting is unrivaled and, well, I would like to see some familiar names in the message boards on SpartanDigest. That and employment is something I strive for.

Go Green and Datbull 4 lyfe!
