How excited were you for media day?
For some reason, I wasn't much at all.
There are questions about the offense. We know that. But there's not really that many questions about the program.
We know there's a quarterback battle and that both are going to play during the season. We've heard it 50 times. We know the freshmen will contribute for playing time at running back and that the receivers need to play better. After that? The offensive line will probably come down to health, and the defense will be the defense.
All that's left is for practices to start and games to come. Then the few questions left will be answered. Sure, there are some coaching changes on the offensive side, but they're not going to be too drastic of changes for the players.
Mark Dantonio is entering year No. 7. He says it's the number for "completion" in the Bible. He's the longest tenured coach at this school since George Perles. We know what we're getting from him and his program.
Frankly, things have been a little boring, and that's a good thing. There was no real offseason drama outside of a few transfers from guys at the bottom of the depth chart. Recruiting is going fine, and should be getting better with the hiring of Curtis Blackwell. There's stability. That's why Dantonio was the perfect hire.
The pads will be coming out and start smacking. We're almost there. We've talked enough. It's time to play.
For now, here's a collection of stories from Media Day.
