MSU picked up commit No. 16 for the class of 2014 in punter Jake Hartbarger, according to our friend Mike Wilson of Scout. (He also announced it on Instagram and said "University of Michigan State," but hey, Mateen did the same thing).

In terms of breaking down a punter, all I can really say is that he, you know, kicks it far. MSU beat out Oklahoma for his services, so that should say something, too. Mike Sadler will be a senior next year, meaning Hartbarger will probably redshirt.

He is the fifth 2014 commit from Ohio and will be in the Under Armour All-American game.

(Insert all the comments about him having a chance to show off his skills at MSU)

Kohl's Kicking ranked him as the No. 2 punter in the nation. Someone from the camp told me Mike Sadler works with them in the summer.

From Jamie Kohl:

"Hartbarger has the prototypical size and leg strength to be a great punter. He has worked hard in the last six months to get his consistency to the point he is able to call on a good ball. He is very explosive and his ceiling is as high as anyone in the 2014 class. Hartbarger's work ethic and ability should make him a special college punter."

Former MSU punter Craig Jarrett approves.
