Well folks, it looks like this is happening. Barring a collapse in negotiations it appears that Michigan State will, for the first time in the Mark Dantonio era be searching for a new defensive coordinator. SI's Pete Thamel is reporting that sources have told him Narduzzi will be the coach of Pittsburgh and it will be announced after the Christmas holiday.
At this point there has been no report on whether Narduzzi will coach in the Cotton Bowl Classic for Michigan State on January 1. Pittsburgh is playing Houston in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl January 2 in Fort Worth, Texas so it is conceivable that Narduzzi could coach the Cotton Bowl and then start working for Pittsburgh. This could also be a part of what will be negotiated over the next couple days until the announcement.
Now for the Spartans the attention turns to keeping as much staff from defecting as possible, deciding on a replacement at the defensive coordinator position and touching base with recruits in this class and future classes. Narduzzi leaving is certainly a blow to the Spartans but it is a blow that both the staff and fan base have been bracing for the last couple of seasons.
Best of luck to you Coach Narduzzi, we'll miss your anger in the press box, coming down to the sidelines for the fourth quarter and will always be thankful for the years of Spartan Dawg defense you provided. You got a good one Pittsburgh Panthers.
