In what comes as a surprise to few people, Gary Harris was named to the All-Big Ten first team today by both the coaches and media. Harris was also added to the all-defensive team by the Big Ten Coaches. To add one more piece to the overwhelming body of evidence that this has been a nutso season:
Interesting. Gary Harris is the only player who was on the preseason all-Big Ten team that made the postseason team.— Terry Hutchens (@FoxSportsHutch) March 10, 2014
The first team is guard heavy, as Wisconsin center/forward/white guy three machine Frank Kaminsky is the only forward/center on the list. Your other three members are all guards: Nebraska's Terran Petteway, Iowa's Roy Devyn Marble, and Michigan's NOT JUST A SHOOTER Nik Stauskas.
The coach of the year honor was split; the coaches chose Nebraska's Tim Miles while the media chose Michigan's John Beilein. No gripe there with either one of those selections. Aaron Craft is the defensive player of the year, but you knew he'd be getting that honor back in November.
As for your other Spartans, Adreian Payne made the All-Big Ten second team for both the coaches and media. A pretty impressive achievement, given he only played two-thirds of the Big Ten season.
