Signing day for football recruits was almost two months ago. On signing day Malik McDowell, one of the best defensive line recruits in the country, announced he was going to Michigan State. From that announcement, what can only be described as one of the strangest recruiting sagas in Michigan State history commenced. First both his parents did not want him to go to Michigan State. Then, his father was on board with McDowell's commitment to MSU, but his mother would seemingly not be convinced. That apparently changed around 11 PM last night:
My LOI was sighed and faxed in at 11:12 last night I'm official a Spartan Dawg!!! #GoGreen #GoWhite

And lest you think that that was some sort of April Fool's prank:
Congrats to Malik McDowell and his family on his NLI to MSU. Big decision for family and all involved. #SpartansWill https://t.co/gg5iyCo6FZ

At long last, the 2014 Spartan Football recruiting class is complete, and Mark Dantonio will announce McDowell's addition at a 1 PM press conference today. It took a couple months for finality, but I think I speak for most everyone when I say that it's better with Malik in it. Welcome aboard, Malik!
