It was a chance to get some momentum for MSU heading into what might be one of the biggest challenges of the season for the team against Ohio State next weekend, a chance they took.
First Quarter:
The first Spartans scoring drive was led by Tyler O'Connor, going 50 yards on 10 plays, throwing a nice 10-yard touchdown pass to Macgarrett Kings.
Maryland got on the board with a pair of big completions, including one for 37 years over the middle to tie the game with a 91-yard scoring drive.
The first quarter ends with the score tied at 7 apiece.
Second Quarter:
MSU offense wasn't generating a whole lot of traction during the first half, which meant Riley Bullough took it upon himself to regain the lead for Michigan State. The middle linebacker got an interception, and returned it 44 yards to score.
MSU recorded another interception to give the team good positioning. The Spartans settle for a 35-yard field goal as time expires on the second quarter, and MSU ends the half up 17-7.
Third Quarter:
Tyler O'Connor opens the half at quarterback with Connor Cook sustaining an apparent shoulder injury and on the sidelines. The Spartans offence went 62 yards in 11 plays for a score. MSU ends the quarter up 24-7.
Fourth Quarter:
MSU ends the game strong, and holds onto the 24-7 lead, and earn the win against Maryland. They'll now look ahead at the challenge that they face next week against Ohio State.
