MSU beats Louisville, which makes this season the second-best start under Tom Izzo.

Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

Well, after a nice 71-67 win for MSU against Louisville, they're now off to their second-best start under Tom Izzo, and have beaten a pair of top 25t teams at this point, now 8-0 on the season.

Denzel Valentine finished the game with 25 points, seven assists and five rebounds, onto of Bryn Forbes, who had 20 points.

The Spartans began the game rather sluggish, with Louisville leading for roughly 30 minutes at the beginning of the game. The Spartans fell behind by 13 points, finding it a struggle to shoot the ball well. But a nine-point rally helped the Spartans to regain some momentum to get back into the game, staying within five points early in the second half.

But it was perhaps the last four minutes that really sealed the deal for MSU, who managed to score a quick five points in those last few minutes after a long stretch of the game going back and fourth.

Kenny Goins finished with 13 boards and had a career-high 18 minutes of playing time during the game. He ended the game as Michigan State's best rebounding option.

MSU will play Binghampton at home on Saturday.

The Bottom Line

As tonight's events in San Bernardino have shown us all, it's not always always about sports. The thoughts and prayers of all of us go to the victims of this cowardly attack, as well as the gratitude of all of us go towards first responders -San Bernardino's finest- who responded to the situation with professionalism and quite possibly saved many more lives.
