Another day. Another commit.
Michigan State has landed their 16th verbal commit in Mike Panasiuk, an Illinois defensive tackle (Lake Park), who received an offer from the Spartans on Thursday. It's the third recruit to commit to MSU in a four day span, following both Illinois defensive end Josh King (Friday) and Indiana defensive end Auston Robertson (Sunday).
Panasiuk visited the East Lansing campus this past Wednesday, who said in an interview that he comfortable with the school, which is the reason why he chose them. He also explained that he grew up watching Big Ten football and wanting to play for a program within the conference.
The 6-foot-3, 280 pounder narrowed his top three to Wisconsin and Penn State, but received offers from Missouri, Kentucky, Iowa and Baylor, among others.
Panasiuk is rated as the No. 2 defensive tackle in Illinois by Scout.com and No. 10 overall in the state by 247Sports.
Naquan Jones, a fellow Illinois defensive tackle, is expected to announce his decision at 3 p.m. Monday. Michigan State is one of the favorites to land the four-star prospect, along with Florida and South Carolina.
