Michigan State Spartans Football: Welcome Aboard 2016 OT Luke Campbell

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

With signing day just a little more than a week away, Mark Dantonio has added the 20th member to the 2016 class in offensive lineman Luke Campbell. Campbell is a three-star prospect out of Lewis Center, Ohio. Campbell was a one-time Purdue commit who re-opened his recruitment and is now in the fold in East Lansing. Let's get right to it.

Senior Highlights

Thoughts on Film

This was one of the most fun highlight tapes I've watched in quite some time. In a lot of these, Campbell is wrecking dudes half his size; still, his nastiness is incredibly apparent. Defenders get up and into his face after he throws them to the ground on a number of these plays. Campbell definitely plays until "the echo of the whistle."

Campbell shows some ability to get to the second level and some ability to deal with speed rushers. With his frame (6'4 275) he can certainly put some weight on, but I'm not sure if he projects as a tackle at the next level, given his lack of reach.

Ultimately, I don't really care where he projects. Campbell is going to be fun to watch.

Offer List: Purdue, Maryland, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Syracuse, Air Force, MAC Schools

While his offer list isn't particularly impressive, it's good to see that Cincinnati and a few of the Ohio MAC schools were involved in his recruitment. There are some P5 schools in the mix.

Ultimately it's kind of easy to see why more high-profile programs didn't offer, given that projecting Campbell at the next level is somewhat difficult. Still, his senior tape was great, and he's got lots of room to grow. I think Mike Wilson put it best:

Welcome to the Green and White, Luke!
