The college basketball season will be here very soon.
Teams around the nation are hosting media days, midnight madness and other various events that signal the start of a new hoops season. The Michigan State Spartans are once again a Final Four contender under head coach Tom Izzo, but not using the same formula we’ve become accustomed to.
Whereas Izzo usually has a veteran-heavy team returning, this year’s version of Spartans basketball will feature a youth movement led by superstar freshmen Miles Bridges, Joshua Langford and Cassius Winston.
On Thursday, Izzo sat down with Dave Revsine and Jon Crispin at the Big Ten Basketball Media Day to preview the new Spartans and the upcoming basketball season.
Later, The Big Ten Network crew spoke with Bridges, Eron Harris, and Tum Tum Nairn to preview the upcoming season and discuss their roles on the team.
Michigan State Madness will be held on Friday to mark the beginning of the 2016-17 season for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams.
The exhibition slate beings Oct. 27 when Northwood University comes to East Lansing. The regular season opens against Arizona in Hawaii on Nov. 11.
