Michigan State overcame a slow start and finished strong to score a 73-62 win over St. John’s in the Battle 4 Atlantis quarterfinals.
Freshman Miles Bridges had 22 points and a season-high 15 rebounds to help No. 24 Michigan State pull away late after the Red Storm led for much of the first half.
Eron Harris added 14 points for the Spartans (3-2), who used a 17-4 burst midway through the second half to take control and build a 67-53 lead with under three minutes left.
Nick Ward was a beast in the second half while notching a season-high 11 rebounds to help the Spartans dominate the glass. He added nine points and three blocks for good measure.
The win advanced Michigan State to today’s semifinals found, where they’ll face No. 20 Baylor, who beat VCU on Wednesday. The Bears enter today’s matchup at 4-0 with wins over No. 4 Oregon, Oral Roberts, and Florida Gulf Coast.
