The Spartans are back in the Breslin Center as Northwestern comes to town for a big Ten clash.
Thanks to a thrilling overtime win at Minnesota, Michigan State enters this game 1-0 in conference play and 9-5 on the year. While the overall record leaves a lot of be desired, the Spartans have one of the better home records in conference openers.
Over the past 66 seasons, Michigan State has posted a 46-20 mark in Big Ten home openers. Tom Izzo is 18-3 in Big Ten home openers, including winning 13 of his last 14. That bodes well for the Spartans’ chances tonight against a feisty Wildcats squad.
