It’s very early in the season, but this feels about right for MSU, which currently sits at 6-4. Their losses are all to teams ranked in the top 20 (Duke, Baylor, Kentucky and Arizona) but aside from a win over Wichita State, also a #8 seed, they lack a “signature” win and have been in close home games against inferior opponents, in Oral Roberts and Florida Gulf Coast.
In this scenario, MSU would play Dayton in the second round and, if they won, would get a rematch against a presumably healthy Duke team in their backyard of Greenville, SC. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
The Spartans next chance to improve their record comes this Saturday against Tennessee Tech (2pm EST, BTN).
