Mark Dantonio doesn’t have to worry about replacing a longstanding member of his staff now that Michigan State Spartans offensive line coach Mark Staten has officially withdrawn from consideration for the Northern Michigan job.
Staten interviewed for the head coaching position in the Upper Peninsula but ultimately decided to stay in East Lansing. He’s been at MSU for 10 years.
"Decision was made after a lot of prayer, talking with family, friends and mentors," Staten wrote on Facebook. "I appreciate all of those involved as I will continue to battle on as a Spartan. God Bless and Go Green!"
After being named one of five finalists for the Division II gig Staten decided it wasn’t worth sacrificing his decade of experience on Dantonio’s staff.
