Kirk Herbstreit: Connor Cook Will be a Steal in the NFL Draft

Even an Ohio State grad has praise for the former Spartans quarterback.

Connor Cook was a three-year starter for the Michigan State Spartans and is the winningest quarterback in school history, but that wasn't enough to get him into the first round of the NFL Draft.

Three quarterbacks were taken Thursday night in the form of Paxton Lynch, Jared Goff and Carson Wentz. But if you ask ESPN personality and Ohio State grad Kirk Herbstreit, some teams might regret not taking Cook sooner, especially if he falls past the early picks of round two:

In the clip, posted by WXYZ in Detroit, Herbstreit says Cook is a sleeper in the draft.

"It's hard for me to imagine, with everything he accomplished in the last three years in East Lansing, that he won't go maybe late in the first or early in the second round," Herbie says. "I hear the same stuff, I heard it during the season. 'How is he not a captain?' Sure, that does raise an eyebrow... Once you sit down and talk to him, you move past it pretty quickly."

The former OSU quarterback says some team will eventually see what Cook brings to the table.

"I think he could be one of the surprises of this draft," he says.

Even a guy that loves LOVES Ohio State loves Connor Cook. What else does he need to prove?
