Michigan State No. 14 in Post-Spring Top 25

Campus Insiders projection places Spartans outside the top 10.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

The Michigan State Spartans will be hard-pressed to return to the College Football Playoff in 2016, at least if one preseason poll is to be believed.

Rich Cirminiello of Campus Insiders has released his "Post-Spring Top 25," which has the defending Big Ten champions at No. 14.

Here's what he had to say about Mark Dantonio's squad:

Mark Dantonio and his staff know how to build, a good thing considering the makeover being done on both sides of the ball. The recent history of the Spartans says this team will once again overachieve by making sure last year's backups are ready to roll in 2016.

It's not clear whether Cirminiello thinks MSU will overachieve by finishing at No. 14, or if he thinks they'll start there and rise up throughout the season. Either way, could we be looking at another case of #Disrespekt?

Here are the teams ranked above the Spartans:

13. Georgia
12. Ole Miss
11. Tennessee
10. Baylor
9. Stanford
8. Notre Dame
7. Ohio State
6. Michigan
5. LSU
4. Florida State
3. Oklahoma
2. Alabama
1. Clemson
