Michigan State LB Ed Davis Will Need Summer Classes to Earn Sixth Year of Eligibility

Senior has yet to graduate.

Eastern Michigan v Michigan State

One of the top linebackers for the Michigan State Spartans will need to go down to the wire to see if he gets to play for a sixth season.

Senior Ed Davis has not graduated yet and will take summer classes in order to earn his undergraduate degree, according to MLive.com.

Once he graduates, Davis will then apply with the NCAA for the additional year. He will need to enroll during both summer semesters, but told MLive he’s on track to make it by summer’s end.

He can participate in practices while waiting to hear from the NCAA, but the timeline will be pretty tight for him to be on the field for the season opener. Davis was named honorable mention All-Big Ten in 2014, but missed all of 2015 with a torn ACL.
