Shareef O'Neal, son of the one and only Shaquille O'Neal, is interested in the Michigan State Spartans.
He's more than a famous last name. The younger O'Neal stands 6'9, 190 pounds and is rated four stars by 247Sports. While he plays at power forward for the Windward School in Los Angeles, the appeal of playing for one of the nation's preeminent coaches at MSU could see him cross the country.
His current offer list includes both of the local power programs in his area, UCLA and USC, and O'neal is thought to be leaning toward UCLA. He's a 2018 prospect, however, so there's plenty of time before a decision has to be made. Shaq dropped the news of his son's interest on his podcast, the well-named The Big Podcast with Shaq.
Shaq also said Shareef has mentioned Kentucky and Duke as possible destinations for his college career. The chances of him playing for his father's alma mater of LSU appear slim.
