It won't be long until we have a final decision from maybe the final 2016 recruiting target for Michigan State.
This weekend, the Spartans hosted four-star forward Taurean Thompson for a visit that ends Monday, and a decision from Thompson is expected to come shortly thereafter. To this point, Syracuse has been viewed as the heavy favorite for Thompson, a 6-9, 200-pound forward from Brewster Academy in New Hampshire.
That was also the case before Thompson made his trip to East Lansing as Tom Izzo and his staff made their final pitch to Thompson, and it looks as though it went very well. If you follow the 247 Sports Crystal Ball, a roundup of predictions from recruiting experts, almost everyone had Thompson pegged to the Orange, but that's changed as Thompson visit wraps up.
The last two picks for where Thompson will go are Michigan State, and one of them is from 247 Sports director of recruiting Jerry Meyer. The Cuse are still the favorites, but it looks as though the Spartans have made up a lot of ground and have the momentum in this recruitment as Thompson nears a final decision.
Thompson told SNY Thursday night that he expects to commit soon after the visit to East Lansing, and it's always a good sign when a school gets the final visit for a recruit about to make his decision.
