Michigan State Establishes Mike Sadler Legacy Football Scholarship Fund

Endowment will provide scholarship in perpetuity for the Spartan football program.

Michigan State v Maryland

Mike Sadler, the great athlete, student and Spartan, will be remembered for a long time in East Lansing and beyond.

The former punter and four-time Academic All-American will be memorialized Sunday at Spartan Stadium, and now the school and Sadler family has established the Mike Sadler Legacy Football Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship will go to a Spartan football student-athlete each year in perpetuity.

"Mike Sadler was a giver, not a taker," Michigan State head football coach Mark Dantonio says in a release about the scholarship. "Mike was about life. He would want to be remembered as a person who embraced life. His wit, character, passion and competitiveness will live on through the establishment of this legacy scholarship fund. Mike Sadler will forever be associated with the Spartan football program."

The Grand Rapids native was tragically killed last Saturday in a car accident in Waukesha, Wisconsin at the age of 24. If you’d like to make a gift toward the scholarship fund, here are your options:
