Michigan State Upsets No. 12 SMU in Season Opener - Michigan State Official Site
The Michigan State men's soccer team upset No. 12 SMU, 2-1 on the road on Friday night in the season-opener for both teams. The Spartans remain in Dallas, Texas for the weekend and return to action on Sunday against Oral Roberts at 1 p.m. ET.

Michigan State's Monty Madaris puts injuries behind him, moves into key role -
Madaris hopes he can be the next senior Michigan State wide receiver to make that leap, starting with the Spartans' opener on Friday against Furman. "You come here to be a guy, to be that certain receiver," Madaris said. "You want to get into that starting role. I'm happy that I finally have done that."

Michigan State class of 2017 running back commitment Weston Bridges had a big game, rushing for 195 yards and five touchdowns on Friday night.

Keith Appling must wait another week for trial dates - Detroit Free Press
Keith Appling briefly appeared to learn the dates of his two trials. But the court pushed back his conferences to Sept. 6. Appling played in 142 career games for the Spartans in 2010-14, but his career has slowly gone downhill ever since.

Spartans Win SDSU Invite With Sweep of Marist - Michigan State Official Site
Michigan State closed out the San Diego State Aztec Invitational with a 3-0 victory over Marist on Saturday evening. Holly Toliver finished with MSU’s second double-double of the day, posting 11 kills, 10 digs, four blocks, and a service ace.

Candid Coaches: Which college coach will be the next to make the jump to the NBA? -
The top four vote-getters have all won national titles within the past eight seasons. Interestingly, Tom Izzo was not on this list, despite previous flirtations with the NBA. We'll take it.
