James Hudson commits to Michigan over Michigan State

Michigan State has dominated their rivalry with Michigan under Mark Dantonio, but the Wolverines came out on top this time around.

Four-star defensive lineman James Hudson announced his college commitment Monday, and Michigan wound up being the pick.

Hudson's recruitment has been a wild one leading up to his decision. Over the past week, it looked as though Michigan State was in the lead before the Wolverines went out in front.

This is a tough loss for the Spartans as Hudson, who is ranked 220th overall by 247 Sports, would have become the highest-ranked pledge for Mark Dantonio in the 2017 class. Even with 16 current commitments, none of them are as highly regarded as Hudson is.

The good news is MSU already has three pledges from defensive ends for 2017 in Jacub Panasiuk, Lashawn Paulino-Bell and Donovan Winter. The Spartans will be fine without Hudson, but it's always going to sting losing a talented recruit like him, especially when it's to your biggest rival.
