We’re closing in on National Signing Day 2017 on Feb. 1, but that doesn’t mean the Michigan State Spartans aren’t out there working on future classes.
Tuesday night, MSU picked up a big 2018 commitment in the form of four-star wide receiver Joseph Scates:

Scates is a 6-3, 175-pound native of Dayton, Ohio. His offer list includes Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky and Pitt, and his early commitment will come in handy should bigger names come calling later on.
Michigan State first offered Scates on Nov. 19. The Spartans now have two commits for 2018, as Scates joins fellow four-star Xavier Henderson.
