Happy New Year: Michigan State is Number One in the Big Ten Standings

0-4 vs AP Top 25 but 2-0 in the conference.

NCAA Basketball: Northwestern at Michigan State Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

Life is all about perspective. The beginning of the Michigan State basketball season was less than ideal. The grueling early season schedule of top 25 matchups and thousands of miles of travel wore on the Spartans. Injuries to Schilling, Carter, McQuaid and Bridges left the Spartans starting lineup in disarray through a large chunk of the non-conference schedule.

But, the sun has risen on a new year and 2017 is trending up in East Lansing. NEws today from Izzo was that Bridges is going to get some minutes vs. Rutgers this week and if you take a look at the Big Ten Standings, your Michigan State Spartans are sitting on top after big wins over Minnesota and Northwestern.

Looks great, doesn’t it?

It is only two games into the season and MSU is still outside of the Top 25 nationally but with home games against Rutgers and Penn State, the Spartans might be looking at a 4-0 start to Big Ten play by weeks end and that sounds good to us.
