Michigan State is in desperate need of a win when Michigan comes to the Breslin Center on Sunday.
The Spartans enter Round 1 of their in-state rivalry with the Wolverines sitting at 12-9 overall, which has Tom Izzo's 19-year NCAA Tournament streak in jeopardy. Michigan isn’t in much better shape, sitting at 14-7 as both programs badly need this resume-boosting win.
"I think it's as big of a rivalry as ever, because both teams need a win," Izzo said. "That gives more to the rivalry. If we were both 2-18, all kidding aside, it'd still be a rivalry, we all know that. If we were both 20-2. The fact that we're both hungry for a win makes it as good or bigger."
