We take a look at some possible last minute additions to MSU’s 2017 recruiting class

NCAA Football: Ohio State at Michigan State Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

TOC spoke with an inside source as to what the final touches could look like for the 2017 class. Here’s what we learned...

  • MSU has 20 commits, yes I know everyone says 21 but there will unfortunately be one player who will not be a part of this class as an academic casualty. I'll respect him and not put his name out there until he does, or signing day.

  • To close the class MSU is looking to add Emmanuel Flowers, a 6'3 CB from California. He is a player who has very good speed, technique and athleticism. To me he reminds me of a slightly faster Tony Lippett.

  • At LB the top target is Jeremiah Owusu Koramoah, he is down to MSU and ND. He is a quick rangy LB at 6'3 who can rush the passer, stand up against the run, and also what makes him even more special is his ability in coverage to defend WRs and TEs.

  • If MSU is looking to add another WR to the core that already features Hunter Rison, Cody White and CJ Hayes, the staff could look at Jalen Tolbert from Alabama, another 6'3 big bodied WR who does a great job moving and high pointing the ball. He's a multi sport athlete as he is also a good baseball player. That has kinda caused him to go under the radar. But now MSU had identified him, and Vanderbilt followed up with an offer as well.

  • The staff is also looking at adding a slot/return type of player. Laress Nelson from south Florida is a name to watch there. He is only 5'8, but is the type of player who is shot out of a cannon the second he touches the ball. As anyone knows who has been watching MSU, we've been lacking a elite return guy since Keshawn Martin graduated. Nelson is a guy who could step on campus and instantly give us a guy who can change field position or take it to the house. Ameer Speed is a very good CB from florida as well, although I expect him to join Georgia.

  • A name to keep an eye after signing day is a 4 star RB from Memphis Tennessee Cordarrian Richardson. He is a former Clemson commit who is 6'0” and 220 pounds. He is a big time talent whose speed power combination is very comparable to spartan RB LJ Scott. He plans to visit MSU officially after signing day.

Signing day always has surprises, and MSU is quiet with their recruiting so there’s always a new name that could pop up
