If you’ve been reading these, you’ll notice this one is a little lighter.
It’s not because I’m lazy, I swear. It’s because that game...really didn’t leave a ton to talk about. Not complaining about it — especially after a 3-9 season — it just won’t be one we tell our children’s children about.
Let’s get into it...

The Good
A win is a win: It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t really that fun — unless you really wanted to know what football in the 1930s was like. However, it was a win and it sent this senior group out with a win on their home turf.
Speaking of that senior class: What a roller coaster they are completing. In their four years here they’ve been a part of the crazy Cotton Bowl win against Baylor, a College Football Playoff berth, a 3-9 season and then a program rebirth after that disastrous season.
Chris Frey, Gerald Holmes and Brian Allen will be missed the most out of this class for their talent. However, Damion Terry will also be missed as a great teammate too as documented by the Lansing State Journal’s Cody Tucker. He also has great pieces on Holmes and Frey. Give them a read (after reading this, of course).
Dantonio: "What sticks out to me about our senior class is they're the bounce-back class. ... It starts with them, it starts with their leadership."

All things running: After a forgettable game against Ohio State where the run defense and offense were obliterated, our Spartans bounced back nicely. On offense, they averaged 5.3 yards per carry, led by LJ Scott’s 147 yards. On defense, they allowed just 2.7 yards per carry.
LJ Scott had a career-high 29 carries for 147 yards, the most rushing yards ever by a Spartan against Maryland. It marked Scott's second 100-yard rushing game of the season and eighth of his career.

Next week’s game: Is against Rutgers. I’ll happily put that in “The Good” section.
The Bad
The passing game: With Lewerke going 2-14 with 20 yards, this isn’t a surprise to see this as the lone downside to the game. That’s not a good line, but the weather was even worst. Still, you want to see more than two passes completed on the game, but it will be hard to lose sleep on this with the conditions they were playing in.
We have to wait: 285 days until the next MSU home game. I’m sad now.

The Random
Anyone who finished out the game at Spartan Stadium: Should be given a medal. It was comically horrible at the game yesterday — it was practically raining slush. We caved and left around halftime and my hands are still thawing.
Also, they could’ve charged $40 for coffee and hot chocolate and still have sold the same amount. Huge money-making opportunity lost by MSU.
Bowl projections: Let’s go bowling, gang.
Jason Kirk of SBNation has our Spartans in the Outback Bowl vs. LSU.
Jerry Palm of CBSSports.com has us in the Outback Bowl vs. LSU.
ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura has us in the Holiday Bowl vs. Washington, and David Hale has us in the Citrus Bowl vs. Auburn.
Poll dancing: MSU is up to No. 22 in the USA Today coaches poll and No. 21 in the AP Poll. Only team in the state of Michigan to be ranked.
As always: NEVER, EVER FORGET TO CELEBRATE.
