The Michigan State Spartans travel to New Jersey to face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights today in the regular-season finale.
No. 17 Michigan State (8-3, 6-2 in Big Ten) was able to beat Maryland 17-7 last week. The Spartans have won three out of their last five games, including a November win over then-No. 7 Penn State, 27-24.
A win today keeps the Spartans in the running for a major bowl game in the postseason. Today could also be the ninth win Michigan State has scored after winning just three in 2016.
Today’s game marks the ninth meeting between Michigan State and Rutgers. The Spartans lead the overall series, 5-3, including a 3-0 mark in Big Ten play. Last season, the Spartans shut out Rutgers, 49-0, on Nov. 12, 2016, in East Lansing.
