Folks, happy (early) National Signing Day.
Huge day for our Spartans — and future Spartans — as 20 seniors are expected to sign today. Before 9:15 a.m. rolled around, all but three seniors signed with the other trio expected to ink the NLI later today.
Here’s a quick rundown of the 2018 class that signed early. All rankings are per 247Sports, which has this class ranked No. 23 as it stands.
3-stars Jacob and Zachary Slade
You might as well call East Lansing the city of brotherly love, making the Slade duo just another set of siblings that will be playing for MSU.
Welcome to East Lansing @zach_slade43 and @jacobslade_ #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/N4vz0feVB3

3-star cornerback Chris Jackson
Straight out of Georgia, Jackson looks to be the next big cornerback from the Peach State.
.@chris_jack24 is extremely quick and has outstanding acceleration. Welcome to the family! #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/y02K9kcliK

3-star linebacker Ed Warriner
Coming off an ACL injury his junior year, Warriner is a diamond in the rough finding out of Ohio.
.@ed_warinner is another extremely instinctive linebacker out of Ohio! We are excited to get him on campus next month! #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/bvNoRB68ox
— Mark Dantonio (@DantonioMark) December 20, 2017
3-star offensive lineman James Ohonba
Once ranked a 4-star on 247Sports, Ohonba arguably has the most impressive measurables amongst this class. At 6-foot-4, 366 pounds this kid is a house of a lineman.
.@JamesOhonba is a big man who wears size 18 shoes! He looks to be a dominant player for us on the offensive line! #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/FVVxho78i7

3-star wide receiver Julian Major
As it stands, Major is the lone wide receiver signing in this class. It’s no secret -- he’ll be joining an already-impressive corps up in East Lansing.
.@Gboy_600 is a very smooth and athletic player out of Pennsylvania! #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/spDz9zO7OM

4-star athlete Xavier Henderson
As the first commit of this 2018 class, Henderson has shown strong commitment to the green and white for quite some time. The Co-Ohio Defensive Player of the Year could make an early impact as a Spartan.
.@Xhenn5 is the Co-Defensive Player of the year in Ohio. He also helped @pick_central to the State Title this season #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/cutpLuVE0r

4-star tight end Trenton Gillison
Gillison didn’t wait long to commit after his high school teammate Henderson did, giving this class two 4-stars off the bat. At 6-foot-5, 220 pounds Gillison has the frame to become a monster at tight end.
One state champ from @pick_central was not enough! Welcome to the family @T_Gillison8! Trenton is a very athletic, and a multi-dimensional player who has the ability to play early! #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/gXIsfZlgul

3-star running back Elijah Collins
Depending on what they do with La’Darius Jefferson, Collins is the lone running back signee in this class. That bodes well for Collins as he could see some significant touches as early as next season.
.@Eli_Collins2 is a level one priority out of @UofDJesuit. Elijah runs through tackles and catches the ball well! #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/OAvCZ1oi0h

3-star cornerback Davion Williams
Also a solid basketball player, Williams is an athletic player that has been shooting up in recruiting rankings as of late.
.@JermainCrowell has another extremely gifted athlete in @on_the_com_up_. Davion has excellent ball skills and hand-eye coordination. He was a dominant performer in our camp! #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/cq0trUNM1q

4-star quarterback Theo Day
MSU’s impressive haul of quarterbacks took no break this year, signing Day out of Dearborn Divine Child.
Welcome to the Spartan Family @day_gma! Theo has a live arm and can move and run. He has also demonstrated great leadership skills and stays calm in the pocket! #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/cJTAanuphV

4-star cornerback Kalon Gervin
Rated as the top recruit in this class, Gervin is the jewel of 2018. He had just about every program after him before selecting Michigan State over Oregon.
.@KalonGervin was highly recruited and extremely well coached by @WilcherThomas at @Detroit_CTFB. Kalon is very explosive and has all the makings of a great corner. #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/lxAHzYrS0r

3-star offensive lineman Dimitri Douglas
Rated as a top 50 offensive tackle in the nation, Douglas will look to dive into competition with other stellar, young offensive lineman.
.@Dimitri_70 can play a multitude of positions along the offensive line. Additionally, he is an excellent student. Welcome to the family! #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/dDv0mN6eJ5

3-star athlete La’Darius Jefferson
This makes back-to-back Mr. Footballs enrolled into Michigan State as Jefferson joins Cody White in that company. Though a quarterback in high school, it’s expected Jefferson will play either running back or linebacker.
Welcome to the Spartan Family @LaDariusJ2. La'Darius led Muskegon to a State Championship last month and has been awarded Michigan Mr. Football, Gatorade Player of the Year in Michigan, MLive Player of the Year and Captain of the @freep Dream Team. #Green18 pic.twitter.com/G0JVAdWSA4

3-star linebacker Chase Kline
This kid has some impressive film, and you can really see a Michigan State linebacker in the way he plays. Get used to this physical, high-motor linebacker.
Welcome to the Spartan Family @chase6bank! Chase was the Division III Defensive Player of the Year in Ohio! #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/kxWNQeS2hO

3-star linebacker Jeslord Boatend
Another solid Ohio linebacker comes into East Lansing as a top-50 ranked linebacker. Just the words “Ohio linebacker” are enough to get us excited.
3-star safety Michael Dowell
Joining brothers Andrew and David Dowell -- both who were huge for MSU this season — Michael shows how strong the family ties are in East Lansing.
We are excited to officially add another Dowell brother to the Spartan Family. @mike_mikeyd123 comes from one of the top programs in the state of Ohio @SEHS_FOOTBALL. Michael has the footwork and speed to play multiple positions on defense! #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/1o8om9UM6m
— Mark Dantonio (@DantonioMark) December 20, 2017
3-star athlete Javez Alexander
A quarterback in high school, Alexander is recruited as an athlete. Dantonio knows he’s getting a solid all-around player with this Ohio product.
.@JAlex_numba5 is a big, athletic, and explosive athlete out of Sandusky, Ohio. Welcome to East Lansing Javez! #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/yGzVHkOfTB

3-star defensive end Parks Gissinger
The furthest out recruit from Los Angeles will look to be a strong pass rusher.
We are getting an active pass rusher out of Los Angeles in @ParksGissinger. #Green18 #TheBestStartHere pic.twitter.com/8rx0bpbIc4
— Mark Dantonio (@DantonioMark) December 20, 2017
3-star offensive lineman Jacob Isaia
Grandson of MSU Hall of Famer Bob Apisa, Isaia comes in as one of the most underrated recruits in the bunch. While a 3-star, Isaia comes in as the No. 15-ranked center in the country.
We are excited to have @JacobIsaia continue the family legacy in East Lansing! Jacob comes from a strong program at @BishopGormanFB that has won a State Championship both years he was apart of the program. He will also play in the @AllAmericaGame on Jan 4th in Orlando. #Green18 pic.twitter.com/AicW6bWY45
