The Michigan State Spartans get a tuneup game this week as they welcome Southern Utah to the Breslin Center.
This will be the first meeting between the Spartans and Thunderbirds (no relation to the Thundercats), a member of the Big Sky Conference. The Spartans have an all-time record of 5-2 against teams from the Big Sky.
Michigan State enters today having won seven-straight games by an average of 19.9 points per game. They rank No. 1 nationally in field goal percentage defense and are tied for No. 13 in scoring defense (61.1 ppg).
With a win today, the Spartans have a chance to ascend into the No. 1 ranking in the Top 25 polls after Duke lost to Boston College. No. 2 Kansas lost at home to Washington earlier this week, so a win today should vault the Spartans into the top spot next week.
This game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network with Kevin Kugler and Shon Morris on the call at 6 pm EST.
