In 2016, Dan Durkin had himself a season, finishing the year with a .324 BA, 67 hits, 6 HRs, and 32 RBIs. The start to 2017 is merely an extension of what Dan accomplished in 2016.
During the Spartans opening weekend against the Abilene Christian Wildcats they scored a total of 51 runs, Dan happened to be responsible for over 30% of Michigan State’s run production.
Due to a phenomenal series the Big Ten gave Durkin the Big Ten Baseball Player of the Week.

This is the first time in Durkin’s career that he has been presented with these honors.
As Michigan State’s senior Captain he had an amazing 2017 debut where he went 9 for 18 from the plate, which translates to a .500 BA. He also scorched the Wildcats for 11 RBIs, three doubles and one home run.
If Durkin stays this hot at the plate, the Big Ten will be hard pressed not to award him with more Big Ten Honors.
