The freshmen continue to carry Michigan State towards an NCAA tournament berth.
Thursday night saw freshmen forwards Miles Bridges and Nick Ward lead the Spartans to an 88-72 win over Nebraska. Bridges finished the game with 20 points, five rebounds and two blocks. Ward also chipped in 20 points, giving Michigan State two freshmen with 20-plus points in a game for the first time since the 1977-78 season when Magic Johnson scored 31 and Jay Vincent had 22 points.
Freshman guard Joshua Langford scored a career-high 17 points to go with five boards and a pair of steals. With the win, head coach Tom Izzo is guaranteed to extend his run of avoiding a losing record in the Big Ten for the 22nd time in his 22-season career.
