Three Spartans make Athlon Sports Preseason All-Big Ten teams

The football season is months away, but a few Spartans are already drawing praise

NCAA Football: Rutgers at Michigan State Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

The 2017 Football season is still a few months away but Athlon Sports is already naming their Preseason All-B1G Teams. Ohio State (14), Penn State (12), Wisconsin (12) and Northwestern (11) led the conference in players selected but three Spartans also made the cut...

Allen joined Billy Price (Ohio State), Jamarco Jones (Ohio State), Mason Cole (Michigan) and Sean Welsh (Iowa) on the first team offensive line.

Scott’s inclusion on the second team speaks to the incredible depth of the Big Ten backfields. LJ fell behind Justin Jackson (Northwestern), Saquon Barkley (Penn State) and Mike Weber (OSU) who was included as an all-purpose back on the first team.

Frey, Mike McCray (UM) and Jermaine Carter (Maryland) make up the third-team linebacking corps. No Spartans made the fourth team.

While it’s fun that MSU had three players make it, the fact they were tied with Illinois for the fewest amount of players selected says everything you need to know about how much work there is to do before the games actually begin.
