Brian Bowen sets decision date, could be headed to Louisville?

Once thought to be a sure-fire Spartan, it looks like Bowen will be going elsewhere

The most exhausting recruiting saga of the year will finally be coming to an end. Brian Bowen finally set his commitment date today.

The only uncommitted five star wing remaining on the market will officially reveal his college choice this Saturday at 4pm EST.

For a long time, it appeared as though Michigan State would be a no-brainer for Bowen.

He’s cousins with Spartan legend Jason Richardson, has been recruited heavily by Tom Izzo for the last several years and his high school teammate, Jaren Jackson Jr., is already committed to play for MSU. Sure, Arizona was a threat, but Bowen was the slashing wing who would be the perfect replacement for Miles Bridges. Yeah, about that.

When Bridges, Allonzo Trier and Rawle Alkins all made the surprising decisions to return to their respective schools Bowen had to do some re-evaluating and find a place where he could get the shots those players had now taken from him.

Several other suitors — UNC, NC State, Texas, Creighton, even DePaul — started calling but now it appears Louisville might be the last team standing. Bowen visited this past week and there are rumors he may already be enrolled in summer classes. Is that true? Who knows, but we’ll find out Saturday.
