The Orlando Magic are giving Matt Costello a chance to continue pursuing his NBA dream.

The Magic announced their summer league roster, and it includes Costello. They will compete in the 2017 Mountain Dew Orlando Pro Summer League, which will take place July 1-6, 2017 on the Magic’s practice court.

The 20-game, six-day event will feature a team from the Orlando Magic, along with the Charlotte Hornets, Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, New York Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder.

After the former Michigan State Spartans big man didn't hear his name called during the 2016 NBA Draft, Costello agreed to join the Hawks' summer league team, where he made a great impression on the team. That earned him a contract with the Hawks, but he was eventually waived during final cuts before spending time with the Iowa Energy in the D-League.

Costello had a breakout senior season, averaging 10.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. He finished with double-digit scoring games in 11 of MSU's final 13 games while helping carry the Spartans to a Big Ten Championship.

A productive showing in the summer league helped Costello show Orland enough to think he can develop into a quality NBA big man, and with the Magic being thin frontcourt in terms of back-end depth, it's not crazy to think he could make the roster and earn minutes.
