There were at least two members of the Michigan State Spartans to play well against Notre Dame this past Saturday, while several players on the field struggled with turnovers, physicality and lack of discipline.

True freshmen Hunter Rison and senior Brian Allen were named to the Week 4 Pro Football Focus Big Ten Team of the Week on offense.

Rison, a wide receiver, had four catches for a team-leading 73 yards yards again the Fighting Irish. He averaged 18.3 yards per catch and had a long of 24 yards. He was graded out by Pro Football Focus at 77.7.

Allen made the PFF Big Ten Team of the Week at the center spot, earning a grade of 81.4. Michigan State didn’t win the battle of the trenches against a veteran Notre Dame front seven, but the Spartans were able to rush for 151 yards as a team, and Allen is the team’s leader and anchor on the offensive line.

No Spartans made the PFF Big Ten Team of the Week for the defensive side of the ball — hmm, I wonder why?

Penn State’s Saquaon Barkley stole the show, and earned the highest grade in the conference with a ridiculous 97.9 mark. Barkley ran for 211 yards and a score, and also added 12 catches for 94 yards through the air.

Penn State and Michigan each had three players make it on the offensive team, and the Wolverines added four more players on defense, leading the conference with seven players total selected to the PFF Week 4 team.
