#V4MSU: 3-star RB Elijah Collins commits to MSU

Detroit product gives MSU its first 2018 running back commit

The Spartans got their 2018 running back commit right here in Michigan.

Elijah Collins – a 3-star running back out of University of Detroit Jesuit – committed to the green and white Friday at his school’s prep rally. He picked the Spartans over Wisconsin, Iowa, Pittsburgh, Mississippi State and Purdue to become Mark Dantonio’s 16th commit for the 2018 class. It’s hard not to be happy with this news as Collins ranks as the 24th best running back in the nation according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Collins, who has a 4.66 40-yard dash time, could be a prime candidate for playing time next season. With Gerald Holmes due to graduate and LJ Scott being a fringe NFL prospect, the top two dogs could be Madre London and Weston Bridges. As the lone running back commit in the 2018 class, he immediately puts himself into the mix as a potential second or third option.

Collins recently had the chance to play against a future teammate as U of D Jesuit fell to Divine Child and 4-star quarterback commit Theo Day last Friday. In the effort, Collins had two touchdowns and 119 yards on 16 carries.
