The Spartans return to the field after suffering their first loss of the 2017 season against Notre Dame. This week MSU plays host to the Iowa Hawkeyes to start the Big Ten season.

After an impressive start to the season, beating Western Michigan and Bowling Green, Michigan State was slammed back down to earth last week in an ugly loss to the Fighting Irish. MSU didn’t put itself in anything resembling a position to win. Four turnovers, three coming from quarterback Brian Lewerke, made a win look almost impossible.

Iowa enters the game in a similar situation. While the Hawkeyes first loss of the season last week was significantly closer than Michigan State’s, they are still looking for a rebound after an emotionally grueling game. Both teams hope to find a rhythm and get a first win in conference.
