Michigan State volleyball will host No. 3 Minnesota Friday at 6 p.m. and No. 7 Wisconsin Sunday at 7 p.m. in their final full weekend of the season. The Spartans are currently on a three game losing streak with their last win dating back to Oct. 12 at Maryland.

With no break coming for the Spartans, it is important that they take advantage of the home crowd while they have it.

The games this weekend will be the second and third of a five-game stretch against ranked opponents, starting with No. 7 Illinois last weekend, where they lost 3-0.

After this weekend, the Spartans will go on to face No. 17 Purdue and for the second time, No. 3 Minnesota in away games.

Key for the team is sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Chronowski who is averaging 3.37 kills per set, good for No. 11 in the Big Ten. Last time the Spartans were at home, she set a personal record in kills against Indiana. If she can play at that level again this weekend at home, the Spartans will have a chance to keep things close between nationally-ranked opponents.

The Spartans are also doing well defensively, averaging 2.78 blocks per set. However, any small slip-up can cost them a set or game and the difficulty as of recent has been maintaining energy.

This weekend, it will be important to see not only how the team can compete with these top-tier opponents, but also how they execute and finish games.
