MSU football off to Redbox Bowl in California

Spartans heading back to Cali

NCAA Football: Rutgers at Michigan State Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

For the second year in a row, MSU will be bowling in California.

Michigan State will be taking on Oregon in the Redbox Bowl in Santa Clara, Calif.

This will be the third time in the last five years MSU and Oregon have faced each other, going back to the Marcus Mariota Game in 2013 and the top ten thriller in Spartan Stadium in 2015.

This season the Ducks finished 8-4 in an uninspiring PAC 12 conference, but do have an impressive player in quarterback Justin Herbert. The matchup between him and the Spartans defense should be fun, because we all know the MSU offense vs. any defense is a chore.

This is the sixth straight time MSU will be playing its bowl game west of the Mississippi River. Iowa was taken for the Outback Bowl for the second time in three seasons, and Penn State was picked for the Citrus Bowl to round out the Big Ten’s Florida bowl games.

Purdue was picked for the Music City Bowl as well.
