A new AP Top 25 Poll is out, and the Michigan State Spartans are back in the top four.
Thanks to a six-game winning streak, the Spartans are seemingly back in control of their own destiny in terms of earning a 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. While the polls are not the final say in how teams are seeded, it’s still a good indicator, but the Spartans still have plenty of work to do to secure a top-two seed.
At the top, Villanova, held on to the No. 1 ranking, followed by Virginia and Purdue. Duke took a dip after their shocking loss to St. John’s, falling to No. 9.
The Spartans will face No. Purdue this Saturday in easily the biggest college hoops game this week. A win here would further boost Michigan State’ chances of a 1 seed, while a win for Purdue would all but lock them into said seed, not to mention the Big Ten regular-season winner.
Here is a look at the updated AP Top 25:
4 Michigan State Spartans
11 Saint Mary’s Gaels
23 Nevada Wolfpack
