It has been a busy couple of days for Michigan State in the recruiting ranks. The Spartans have secured a verbal commitment from yet another talented player: Bolingbrook Illinois running back Anthony “Ant” Williams Jr.!

Running back was a position of need for the 2019 class, and MSU has now landed two recruits at the position within the past 24 hours. Fellow three-star halfback Brandon Wright, along with three-star athlete Alante Brown, both committed last night.

Williams was actually the first of three players to pledge to the Spartans today. Tre Mosley and Michael Fletcher also announced that they are taking their talents to East Lansing.

Per 247Sports Composite, Williams is the No. 58 running back in the country, and the No. 16 player in Illinois, at any position. He also ranks 945th nationally.

Offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Oregon State, Wyoming, Arkansas State and several other MAC schools, including Central Michigan, Toledo and Western Michigan, were extended to Williams.

Williams told 247Sports’ Allen Trieu that Michigan State was his “dream school.” He also said he has been an MSU fan since he was kid and that he is high on the coaching staff.

Five-star offensive tackle Devontae Dobbs also committed earlier this week. With Michigan State’s powerful recruiting surge, the Spartans’ 2019 class has moved all the way up to No. 17 in the nation and No. 3 in the Big Ten. This is despite the decommitment of four-star quarterback Dwan Mathis.
