Tyson Smith announces retirement from MSU football

Smith battled back for an inspirational junior year, and will now step away from the game

NCAA Football: Brigham Young at Michigan State Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

Senior cornerback Tyson Smith is hanging up his cleats.

The Southfield native — who entered last season after suffering a stroke in the offseason — cited health reasons in a detailed Twitter post.

From the looks of the post, Smith will still remain with the team with a role.

One of the best moments of the 2017 season came from Smith, when his pick-six against Bowling Green gave MSU a comfortable cushion in the opening day win.

We wish nothing but the best of luck to Tyson moving forward.
