Well, the football season may have ended in disappointment, but now we can bring our full attention to basketball season. The No. 8 Michigan State Spartans are off to great start in the 2018-2019 season with an overall record of 11-2, and a 2-0 in the Big Ten.
MSU is back on the Breslin Center hardwood tonight against the Northwestern Wildcats (9-4, 0-2) at 8:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network. This is the first game of 2019 for the Spartans, and the first conference game since a blowout victory against Iowa on Dec. 3. Michigan State’s other Big Ten win came against Rutgers on Nov. 30.
Michigan State has now won six games in a row since, and is 7-0 at home this season. The Spartans are coming off of an 88-60 victory over Northern Illinois, and have won each of its last three game by at least 21 points.
Meanwhile, Northwestern is coming off of a dominating win against Columbia (75-54), but lost to Oklahoma prior to that. The Wildcats have also lost to Fresno State, and fellow Big Ten schools Indiana and Michigan.
Here is your game thread. Enjoy!
Be sure to check out Joey Ellis’ game preview on the matchup prior to tip-off.
Update: Joshua Langford has been ruled out tonight. Kyle Ahrens will start in his place. Not ideal.
