It was a rough night for the Michigan State Spartans on the basketball court last night, as MSU fell to Duke by a score of 87-75 in East Lansing. But the night was still a celebration, as Spartan legend Draymond Green had his No. 23 jersey retired and raised to the rafters at a halftime ceremony.
For those who weren’t able to see it in person, or those who want to watch it again, check out the video of the event from our very own David Harns. An emotional Green spoke to the Breslin crowd about what this moment means to him.
Green is just the 10th Spartan player ever to get his jersey retired. He joins Magic Johnson, Greg Kelser, Johnny Green, Steve Smith, Scott Skiles, Jay Vincent, Shawn Respert, Mateen Cleaves and Morris Peterson, as well as Hall of Fame coach Jud Heathcote.
Congratulations, Draymond! A well-deserved honor.
