NCAA Basketball: Michigan State at Michigan Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Well that was fun! Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans men’s basketball team beat the Michigan Wolverines. Cassius Winston dominated the game, playing solid defense, and putting up a 1st team All-American and B1G POY line of 27 points (7-13 from the field, and 13-14 from the line), 8 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, and only 3 turnovers.

Kenny Goins dropped 16 points and 11 rebounds, Xavier Tillman ended the game with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists, and Matt McQuaid chipped in 13 points 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Aaron Henry and Kyle Ahrens had solid, if unspectacular games (Henry after being saddled by foul trouble came through with some great hustle plays with the game in the balance), and they combined to produce 4 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block.

UM struggled (as I thought they might) to generate consistent offense (again, they are only an OK offensive team), and the final scoreline flattered them after Poole hit a couple of late desperation 3’s.

Winston and Izzo exorcised some demons, and MSU maintained the pace in the B1G.

Big win. PPTPW.

Go Green!!!
