We are getting closer to Michigan State Spartans football! Today, the Big Ten and its television partners announced some start times for the 2019 season, and we now know kickoff times for six of MSU’s games.

  • Aug. 30: vs, Tulsa, 7 p.m. (FS1)
  • Sept. 7: vs. Western Michigan 7:30 p.m. (Big Ten Network)
  • Sept. 14: vs. Arizona State, 4 p.m. (FOX)
  • Sept. 28: vs. Indiana, 3:30/4 p.m. (Homecoming)
  • Oct. 5: at Ohio State, 7:30 p.m. (ABC/ESPN)
  • Oct. 12: at Wisconsin, 3:30/4 p.m. (ABC/ESPN)

The big takeaway here is that the Spartans start with back-to-back night games. There is the annual Friday under-the-lights season opener on Aug. 30, as Tulsa travels to East Lansing this year, and that game can be watched on FS1. Then Western Michigan comes to Spartan Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Big Ten Network.

MSU has at least one other prime time game on the 2019 schedule, as the Spartans head to Columbus on Oct. 5 to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes. That game will be televised on ABC/ESPN at 7:30 p.m..

The rematch against Arizona State (aka, the Jake Hartbarger revenge game) is set for a late-afternoon kickoff at 4 p.m. on FOX. This is easily the most anticipated non-conference game on the schedule, as the Spartans look to rebound from last season’s loss in Tempe.

The homecoming game against Indiana and the road game against Wisconsin are both listed as either 3:30 or 4 p.m. start times. The Indiana game also does not list a television channel.

There are zero noon games announced on this early schedule release, but there will certainly be a few once the full slate is known.
