After a Week 1 win over Tulsa, Michigan State will take on the Broncos of Western Michigan in Week 2. Will the Spartans come out on top? Our writers predict the outcome of the game and the rest of this week’s Big Ten action. You can keep track of how our writers are doing with these picks by looking at the record next to each writers name.

Michigan State 37, Western Michigan 13
I am not entirely sure at this point if it’s even possible for this offense to score 37 points in a single game, but here’s to hoping. MSU has scored at least 37 points against the Broncos in three of the past five meetings, as well as five of the past eight meetings, so it seems like this could be the opponent to hit an offensive explosion against. The incredible defense isn’t going to give up a lot of points, regardless of what happens offensively. Western Michigan has also not beaten Michigan State since 1919, back when the Woodrow Wilson administration was in office, so I am pretty confident in this one.

I am once again letting my computer pick the final score and it likes MSU to win 35-13. Both those number seem a bit high to my human eyes, but the computer actually said MSU would win 100011 to 001101, so that does look better (#mathjoke)

Huh, my computer picked Nebraska and Minnesota to both win West Coast roads games... sure, what could possibly go wrong?

A defensive score, a special teams score, and *several* offensive scores leave Spartan fans hopeful for what is to come.

I have no idea what to expect from the Spartans on offense. However, one thing I do know is the MSU defense will come ready to play. I see the defense grabbing another touchdown, while the offense takes some time to get going. In the end, MSU wins somewhat comfortably and moves to 2-0.

It’s an exciting evening in Spartan Stadium as the offense scores touchdowns, plural. MSU broadens their lead in the third quarter after a relatively tight first half, and a late Broncos score takes away the dream of the Spartans covering the spread. Oh, and that Rocky Lombardi package actually works once or twice this time.

Yeah this is going to be closer than any of us like. The defense will continue to play well, but Western has some play makers who will help them get some point on the board. The good news is that it won’t be enough. The MSU offense will do enough to get the job done and show some improvement from last week. MSU wins but the fans have to sweat it out for three quarters.
